Client’s Requests: Bigger kitchen, nice featured area, white interior, baking area to be visible
Proposed Space: Kitchen (Cooking & Baking Area), Barista, Service Counter Area, Seating Area.
Strategy / Approach: Clean & simple approach, allowing customers to easily divert their focus to the featured area & cake and bread display.
Issues / Challenges:
- To create a featured area around structural column.
- To improve coherence of existing design.
- Existing cake display showcase was not fully utilized due to limited on-site production and there was no bread display.
- To reuse existing floor tiles, full-height windows and doors.
Potential Solutions:
- To create a centerpiece at the column by bringing in the green with carefully curated local plants.
- To line bread & cake display together, creating a more prominent presence, using the featured column to capture & direct attention to bread & cake display.
- To extend back kitchen area with highly-workable baking & cooking area.
- Clean & simple selection of materials with texture, which allows the product (cake & bread) to stand out.
- To touch-up & make good all existing structure.
